Job Description

The Compensation Programs Analyst plays a critical role within Idaho State University's Human Resources department, with a primary focus on delivering advanced analytical support and comprehensive reporting to guide the strategic development, effective implementation, and continuous improvement of all compensation programs and policies. This position is instrumental in managing compensation, position, and classification assessments, leveraging in-depth data analysis to ensure the university maintains equitable, competitive, and compliant pay practices.

Key Responsibilities

Compensation & Classification Management:

  • Coordinate with HR leadership to develop and maintain job classifications and salary scales in line with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support HR Talent Acquisition team and University Business Officers in assessing jobs and their respective duties to determine scope of duties and responsibilities, employee classification, and appropriate FLSA exemption and salary ranges.
  • Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.
  • Monitor State HR compensation changes and implement changes for ISU positions as required.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Provide key analysis support to the Director of Operations in collaboration with the Budget Office, CHRO, and university leadership to refine CEC plan proposal and facilitate CEC implementation.
  • Prepare and present summary reports and recommendations of job analysis and compensation analysis information for key decision making.
  • Gather data from market-based compensation surveys; use data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.
  • Perform complex data analysis, generate reports, and respond to information requests.
  • Provide the development of data and analyses for decision support, process improvement and training for university-wide projects and initiatives.

Consultation, Training & Compliance:

  • Provide leadership support and consultation for position classification, compensation and total rewards actions impacting evolving business needs, vacancies, and existing employees.
  • Work collaboratively with the HR Talent Acquisition team to lead, consult, and conduct reclassification studies, and desk audits, providing sound salary and trend analysis and recommendations.
  • Perform regular and ad-hoc compliance checks. Partner with the HR Information Systems team to ensure seamless processes, accuracy, and data integrity of HR information.
  • Assist with review of pay equity claims and employee relations needs related to compensation.
  • Provide supervisor and employee training and coaching, developing training related to compensation and total rewards processes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, database management and report generation.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs of our students, staff, faculty and the public.
  • Minimum of three years of experience compensation analysis and Human Resources experience beyond entry-level work including in the following functional (or related) areas:
                  - Organizational structure and restructure.

                  - Compensation and total rewards.

                  - Recruitment Salary Budgeting.

                  - Employee relations, including performance management, training and coaching.

                  - Human Resources Information Systems.

                  - Job Classification and compensation.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working in a Higher Education setting.
    • Experience with Banner, ERP system Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. 

    Additional Information

Salary will be between $65,000 - $70,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
